Anthony McCall's Light Sculptures

Documentation photos of Anthony McCall's light sculptures show a fantastic sense of artistry with light. How does the artist create these fine lines in light with the sharp "curtain" from its source?

I'm really fascinated by this sense of a plane of light, which McCall has been working on since the 70s. Apparently he uses a thin mist which makes the light appear 'solid' from a simple projection. McCall also says that the light sculptures are scaled to the size of a human body, so that a person can reach the full extent of a projection all the way to its source.

It's amazing how much you can learn at ITP just by doing. Today in our Big LEDs class, we learned pixel mapping on MadMapper which wasn't entirely new to me! This semester I learned how to use MadMapp
