Stefani introduced me to SCAPE's project Oyster-tecture. I found a great article and podcast on it from 99% Invisible.
In reviewing their research, I'm fascinated by the number of issues that a renewed oyster habitat might aid.
A new oyster habitat can:
- clean the water by way of oyster
- buffer storm surge
- create a recreational swim area
However, my roommate posed a great question to me: How would this effect local natural wildlife???
- Satellite map of Port of Los Angeles - 2 layer port
- Balboa Island - built on landfill like Staten Island and Miami Beach
