Patterns as climbing problems. Designing and discerning paths that require patterns in movement, body language, footwork, risk and fear management, and breathing, to name a few. Climbing routes at the gym (as opposed to outside) are designed to challenge the climber not just physically but mentally - by creating a new pattern that the climber has to discern. Patterns are meant to be broken. Patterns can also be hosted within each other.
Challenging climbing problems are fun because they break patterns. Simple climbing problems are fun because they have very clear patterns.
How might you capture those patterns?
